New Opportunity at Solarc...potentially

The past couple of years I spent my time implementing SRA at an oil company in Savannah, GA and Houston, TX. The project is coming to an end, but I think we have another 3-6 months. Thankfully they prefer me to work remotely to keep the costs down. With our new family addition it has been very difficult to navigate the path forward with my career. I didn't realize what a stress it has been for me. Yesterday an opportunity came up at work to keep working on projects and stay with my current project. The majority of the work would be done in Tulsa. My hope is that the first project gets going and gets done well so we can replicate it for other customers. It will be an answer to a prayer that I never prayed.

So Tiring....In a great way!

This weekend we found ourselves with so much to do. We did it, but I feel no more productive than when the weekend began. Jamison received his white/green belt in karate, he was invited to a very fun birthday party, and we finished up with Trunk or Treat at our church. We were on the go. Today I was talking to my dad and he said that he and his friends went fishing for 6 hours yesterday. I had to laugh at myself for being so envious of his six hours of doing something he marginally liked. It is pretty pathetic. Parenthood is a good thing. It teaches me that it isn't about me and never was about me. I think that is why it is so frustrating right now because I cannot let that go. Hopefully each day will get better. I hope to become a better person than when I started down this path.

Preparing for Halloween

This is a first for the Fisher family, decorating for Halloween. It just seems that Halloween isn't celebrated past the age of 11. Now that Jamison is four he asked me when we were going to decorate for Halloween this year. I packed him up and we went to Wal-Mart. I found this all very challenging since I am not much of a decorator. We bought some lights, jack-o-lanterns, scary spider stuff, and a costume for Jasper. Jamison plans to be a pirate this year and he decided he wanted a pirate dog. So we dressed Jasper up to make sure his costume fit. I think he looks pretty cute.

VO2 and Sky Fitness

So I started working out at Sky Fitness approximately 8 weeks after Jaxson was born. It was actually difficult to get back into it considering I did nothing for about 10 months. So I started with Reformer Pilates. I paid extra to take this class. It is the kind you take on the machine not to be mistaken with the mat class. Anyway the classes are pretty expensive, but you do get what you pay for. In 2 months I lost almost 4% body fat. My trainer talked me into getting a heart rate monitor and taking a VO2 test. Sky was offering it as a special. This is a stress test. While I was only on the treadmill for 20 min, it wiped me out. How it works is you find out your max heart rate and your target zones are generated from that. Your target zones are very important because they are very individual to you. So is the oxygen you take in. I happen to be average. I burn about 2 fat calories in my first zone. Not to bore with the details, it goes without saying everyone needs to take this test otherwise you are just wasting your time in your cardio workouts. Now I know exactly how hard I work and with that I can apply this knowledge to build more lean muscle and improve on my oxygen intake. Fat burns in the presence of oxygen. The more oxygen your body takes in, the more fat it burns. Otherwise you are burning carbs which results in hunger and soreness. So I felt it was well worth the time and money spent on the monitor and the test. We will see how I progress over the next 12 weeks. I was given a workout plan to improve my VO2 levels. I am on day 2 and it is killer.

Fisher Family Intro

I feel it is time to start a family blog. I am an adviser at the KKG house this year at TU. Over the weekend during the meeting I realized how much I truly enjoyed being at TU and the entire experience. It got me thinking how quickly that time came and went. Now that I have kids I can only imagine how I am going to feel when the day comes that the boys will be out on their own enjoying their own college experiences. I am going to do my best to keep up with what goes on in our lives so I can have more to remember than just our pictures. At this point John just celebrated his 37th birthday, I am getting ready to celebrate my 30th birthday (yikes), Jamison just turned 4, and Jaxson is at his halfway point to that all important first year, Jasper is almost through his puppy stage quickly approaching 2.
